flower 2

There is a group of marvellous Indian flower paintings in the V and A which has no provenance at all. They are thought to be 1860s and painted in Trichinopoly (in Tamil Nadu) but that is all that is known. Here is ‘one of eighteen drawings of flowers’ (?a camellia). They are in storage but thanks to the marvellous V & A online site, we are able to see them.
