Alice Maud Fanner (1865-1930) painted The Seaside in c. 1920, it’s at Brighton and Hove Museum. One of her paintings sold at Christie’s for quite a healthy price a couple of years ago, and another for a fairly healthy price at Bonham’s. (Oh dear, we hope we haven’t used the word healthy to mean ‘for a woman’.) Here are a few biographical details about Alice Fanner, ‘in private life’ Mrs Taite. This painting also appears on the Persephone Forum for The Fortnight in September here.
