The second woman in a week of Posts aimed at reminding us that most Americans are compassionate, great, and do genuinely believe in equality: Harriet Beecher Stowe who wrote Uncle Tom’s Cabin and previously had been involved in the ‘Underground Railroad’ to help slaves escape from the South. We have always wanted to reprint her but (as so often discussed) our American books, although top notch (think Fidelity; think Heat Lightning; think Still Missing) are slower sellers.
