On the post this week is the diarist Vere Hodgson (1901-79), whose war-time writings were collected as Few Eggs and No Oranges, Persephone book no. 9. Here she is on holiday at 17 looking much younger (and more innocent, perhaps) than a teenager would now. Her papers are about to be given to Kensington library but one of our summer tasks has been to go through them. Alas, we haven’t found any unpublished short stories but there are lots of wonderful family photographs.
